St Andrews, Headington, Oxford:
Cleaning carried out on the East window in the chancel, to remove dirt ingress, thick cobwebs and remove limescale crusts that had formed around the lead on the exernal surface. The internal work was done very carefully with cotton buds and soft brushes, using a 60/40 de-ionised water and methylated spirit mix. The limescale crusts were obscuring some of the detail in the window and were removed using a surgical blade before the external surface was cleaned with de-ionised water. External window protection had to be carefully removed for access before cleaning began and was re-installed on completion. |
